We’ve won an award – voted for by young people

We’re very proud to receive the Kent County Council ‘Community Award’ for our work supporting LGBTQ+ young people… especially because it’s been voted for by the people we work with!
Oct. 25, 2022
The awards recognise work that’s been done to help young people recover from the emotional effects of the Covid pandemic, funded by the council’s ‘Reconnect’ scheme.
Because many LGBTQ+ young people felt isolated during the lockdowns, we received funding to host events and activities where they could be themselves, feel accepted and have fun.
BeYou Project manager Gwyn Whittaker (he/him) says: “It means so much to win an award that’s been voted for by young people. They are the reason we do what we do, and we’re delighted that they feel The BeYou Project deserves to be recognised.”
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for us, and to Kent County Council for giving us funding to do this important work.
